About Me

Hi, I’m Tom!

A family man, a critical consumer, and someone who prefers to double-check what’s in our everyday products.

I’m the one with the wired headphones, even though wireless ones have long been the norm.

And the one who switches the kids’ Wi-Fi to a wired connection as often as possible. I’m the one who prefers to double-check the ingredient list on products and avoid certain ingredients whenever possible. I’m the one who, even at the hardware store, wants to know what’s in paints, varnishes, and other materials—and compares VOC levels at the eco-friendly store.

I’m the one who takes a closer look at personal care products and wants to know what’s actually in shampoo, shower gel, or sunscreen.

I’m the one who wonders what we’re actually taking in every day through our food, our skin, and our environment. And I’m the one who doesn’t just assume a product is safe simply because it’s sold everywhere.

I’m the one who worries about microplastics, plasticizers, PFAS, and other substances we encounter in everyday life.

And I’m the one who wonders why we take so many things for granted without giving them a second thought.

Maybe I question some things more than others. But for me, that’s exactly what being mindful is all about.

Why These Issues Matter to Me

Ever since I became a father, I’ve started looking at many things in a different light—and with a much more critical eye. Suddenly, it’s no longer just about my own health, but also about what our children come into contact with every day and the environment they’ll one day live in.

What’s in their sunscreen? What materials do we use in our home? Do we really need that much plastic? And which ingredients are actually problematic, while others are safe?

I’ve found that it’s not at all easy to distinguish between legitimate concerns, scientific findings, and clever marketing.

That’s why I do my research, compare products, scrutinize manufacturers’ claims, and try to make informed decisions for our family.

As a father, I think not only about my own health, but also about my children’s health and the world we’ll one day leave behind for them. As a father, it’s especially important to me that my children grow up healthy and that we leave them a world worth living in. That’s why I focus on the things that are part of our daily lives: our diet, the ingredients in personal care products, our consumption habits, and the impact on our environment.

For me, it’s not about doing everything perfectly or giving everything up. Rather, I want to take a closer look, question our habits, and make conscious decisions about which products we use in our family’s daily life. I want to know what alternatives are available and be able to decide for myself.

For me, health and environmental protection go hand in hand.

Microplastics, plasticizers, harmful substances in everyday products, and volatile organic compounds in our homes are topics I’d like to learn more about.

I’m interested not only in what might affect our health, but also in what ends up in our soil, water, and ultimately our environment as a result of our consumption.

It’s important to me to assess risks realistically. Not every chemical is automatically harmful, and not everything natural is automatically safe.

But I think we should know what we’re buying and using so we can make our own decisions.

Because for me, personal responsibility also means asking questions and not simply accepting every habit without question.

Why Ringana Is a Good Fit for Me

While searching for more mindful alternatives, I came across Ringana.

What appealed to me most about the company was its concept—the freshness of its products, the selection of ingredients, and its commitment to sustainability.

I think it makes sense to consider not only what’s in a product, but also how it’s made, packaged, and used.

Today, I’m an independent Ringana partner, and on my blog I feature products that I use myself or that we’ve tried as a family.

My goal isn’t just to recommend products, but to explain why I choose certain solutions.

What You Can Expect on My Blog

On tomsblog.de, I write about the topics that interest me: microplastics, harmful substances in everyday products, ingredients in cosmetics, children’s health, sustainable consumption, and more mindful alternatives for everyday family life.

Here you’ll find background information, personal experiences, product comparisons, and my thoughts on how we can make a difference through our daily decisions.

I’m not the kind of person who claims to do everything right. Even in our household, not every purchase is perfect, and not every decision is the most sustainable.

But I believe it makes a difference whether we simply accept things as they are or start taking a closer look.

I don’t just want to leave my children a world worth living in; I also want to instill in them the confidence to ask questions, think for themselves, and make conscious decisions.

That’s exactly what this blog is all about.

Glad you’re here!

Tom
